Common Hormone Disrupters

Hormones don’t stay the same over years, months, weeks, or hours. They will always be in a constant ebb and flow, but what we put into our bodies and lifestyle choices will affect that natural balance of our hormones.
The messages we give to our body will influence how well we can maintain hormone health and balance throughout our lives.
The nine things shown in the image are the main ones I see in my coaching that correlate with the disrupted hormones I see.
Environmental Toxins: Some women can have 500 different chemicals on their bodies that have been linked to causing cancer —the toxins from cleaning products and air fresheners, to name a few. I encourage you to download the EWG clean food and Products app and look on the website for healthy cleaning, cooking, and body products: https://www.ewg.org/.
To lower the remaining toxin load:
  1. Eat a healthy diet (Mediterranean is an easy option)
  2. Work with a coach that understands the stress of resistance and cardiovascular training to ensure you don’t overtrain.
  3. Make sure you move enough. Exercise two to three times per week minimum
  4. Figure out ways to reduce your stress (this is another post). Supplementation during high-stress times can be beneficial)
  5. Reduce your caffeine intake to no more than 100 mg a day.
  6. Keep gluten and dairy products to a minimum; you shouldn’t eat these foods with every meal.
All these things can be beneficial for living a long, healthy life full of strength, stamina, and good mental health. If you give the body more of what it needs and less of what it doesn’t (Toxins), hormonal health will maintain.
The final note is if you are already the person that has disrupted their hormones (confirmed with labs). Recovering your hormones will take more than eliminating hormone-disrupting products or subtle lifestyle changes. If you have been stressing your body out and giving it high levels of toxins that disrupted your hormones over decades, do you think removing a few things and drinking more water will bring your body back into balance overnight? The answer is no. If you have issues, we can help you.
